Distance made personal.
The image carries a feeling of separation and stillness, with the subject held just beyond reach.
BEHIND THE FRAME
Distance is the main subject here. Kassem does not bring the landscape close or make it easy to enter. The vertical frame leaves the scene slightly remote, with space held back rather than explained. That restraint suits the title: the image feels far away without becoming sentimental. It is a photograph about separation, and about not closing that distance too quickly.
